My coverage of the DC FanDome – the online convention for all things DC – continues. You can watch all eight hours of content on dcfandome.com, which will then be repeated twice over the 24 hour period. Then it’s gone. There’s also stuff going up on YouTube, but just the trailers.
I’ll be covering what’s happening in parts. Thus far I’ve been updating as I go to. Part 1 and Part 2 covered Wonder Woman 1984, Gotham Knights, The Flash and The Suicide Squad. There’s also been a lot of talk about my stream crashing and me wondering what’s going on with my takeaway order. I had a Chinese, it was lovely.
Anyway, let’s get into it!
10.53pm – I stepped away from a bit. I’ve been watching panels on and off, but I’ve not felt compelled just to write stuff for the sake of writing stuff, so instead I decided I’d come back to this whole thing when the Snyder Cut Panels starts.
10.18pm – The big event is nearly upon us! But what’s on the screen right now? Italian Batman.
They should make a film of that in the style of Italian Spiderman…
10.30pm – Right, here we go! The Snyder Cut panel begins now.
10.32pm – Star-studded panel here. Zack’s answering fan-questions. First answer: his favourite superhero is Doctor Manhattan.
10.35pm – Don’t you just love Ray Fisher? His charm is infectious, and like Zack, I can’t wait to see his character fleshed out in the Snyder Cut.
10.37pm – Zack’s currently discussing his and Chris Terrio’s love for Joseph Cambell and mythology. Regardless of your opinions on the films, the director, the writer, whether you liked the theatrical cut or not, it really does stand out how much Joss Whedon’s version was lacking that mythological aspect to these characters.
10.39pm – Has Zack already seen Wonder Woman 1984? I want to see Wonder Woman 1984. The cinema I work at opens this week though so that’s a step in the right direction.
10.40pm – Zack’s teasing that we’re going to see something to do with the Flash that we haven’t seen (in film?) before. Tantalising teaser there.
10.42pm – I’ve just realised how stupid it is that I’ve been writing ‘22.42 PM’. Redundant.
Back on topic, I’ve never been a part of the Snyder Cut movement. I’m interested, just was never as passionate about it as all the advocates for the cut. Still, seeing his die-hard fans speak so fondly of him is lovely.
10.48pm – To be totally honest with you, I’m still not 100% I’ll actually like this film. But really, good for Zack Snyder. He just seems like the loveliest guy, and whatever form the final product looks like, I’m glad he’s getting to do his thing.
Also, Zack’s revealed his Justice League will be released in four one-hour parts.
Fans from outside the US will also be able to watch it. The ‘how’ hasn’t yet been figured out though.
10.52pm – So, the trailer for the Snyder Cut has been dropped (although from what I understand it leaked hours ago). It’s interesting. It hasn’t grabbed me, as such, but there’s enough unseen content there to pique my interest. Darkseid and Desaad (maybe?) make an appearance. Silas Stone appears to get disintegrated? A fair chunk more Flash and Cyborg stuff.
However it turns out, it’ll be interesting, at very least!
11.13pm – It’s Black Adam time! Things are kicking off with a small teaser that I believe has already circulated online…
Oh wait, there’s more this time.
11.16pm – Well, it’s less a proper teaser, more a brief cinematic. Done by Boss Logic, it seems. It looks darker than I thought it would. I’m still not entirely convinced Dwayne Johnson will come out of this looking like a destructive, murderous anti-hero. But you never know.
11.20pm – The Rock seems to be pretty definitive about the fact that this will be a true-to-the-comics, ruthless Black Adam. This’ll be an interesting production to watch, that’s for sure.
11.21pm – Noah Centino, who plays Atom Smasher has just joined the chat. Maybe we’ll see some other Justice Society reveals during the panel.
11.28pm – Well there it is! The Justice Society is confirmed. Hawkman. Doctor Fate. Atom Smasher and Cyclone are all appearing in Black Adam.
11.30pm – The Rock’s new favourite line: “The hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change…”
I imagine we’ll be hearing a lot of that over the next year or so.
Anyway, that’s me done for now. I’ll be back with part four in the early hours of the morning, where FanDome comes to a close with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and The Batman. I may pop in for the Aquaman and Shazam panels but I make no promises.
